Urgent Prayer Needed for Micah

We are coming to you with another update and urgent request for Micah.

The seizures that Micah had been having have stopped. The steroid shots that he had been receiving twice a day in his thigh muscle have been stopped as they have run their course. It appears that the treatments have been successful so far in stopping his seizure activity. We are hopeful that they are completely healed.

Since our last update, Micah has begun taking food by bottle again. Many times he takes his full three ounce feedings completely by bottle. Sometimes only a partial feeding by bottle with the rest being fed through his feeding tube. THIS IS A MIRACULOUS ANSWER TO ALL OF OUR PRAYERS!!! THANK YOU!!!! A few days ago, Micah had his feeding tube (a very long one) replaced by a button-type feeding tube. It might actually even be more comfortable for Micah to be on his tummy with the new plug in.

A little over a week ago, at Micah’s orthopedic appointment, the doctor advised that Micah have surgery as soon as possible on his hips and legs. Due to the severity of Micah’s brain injury, the spasticity in his muscles have caused his hips to be seriously dislocated. The muscles are also pulling his knees so that they are beginning to angle towards the back of his legs…. The doctor is recommending a surgery where the soft tissue muscle would be cut around his hips and his legs. This procedure would release the muscles so that his hips and knees can be relocated to their proper position. Micah would be in a cast from the waist down for 6-7 weeks followed by a temporary brace to aid in healing.

Micah is scheduled to see another Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist who has vast experience with brain injured children in order to have a second opinion that this surgery is what is best for him. Then Micah’s pediatrician will have to decide if Micah is able to handle the surgery (which should be about 2 hours) and then give her approval.

All this preparation will be happening in the next two weeks.

Chris and Stephanie went out on what could be considered a “first date” since Micah’s birth. They came down to our house to visit and then went out to dinner alone. When they returned, we had a really fun visit. It was really nice spending that quality time with the three of them. And, needless to say, we were absolutely thrilled to have Micah with us while they went out.

Last Friday, I was able to pick Micah up in the morning and take him to a friend’s house in Newport Beach who was having a healing prayer meeting. Micah was soaked in prayer. Micah was awake the entire 3 hours that I was there except for when people began to lay hands on him and pray. As soon as the first hand touched his head, he closed his eyes and he appeared to be sleeping (maybe he was just enjoying the healing touches!). Then, when Pastor Ish touched his finger to Micah’s forehead anointing him with oil, Micah’s eyes just opened right up as if he was completely aware of what was going on. The photo shown is of the moment that Micah opened his eyes. Can you tell how aware he was?! Micah really enjoyed being in the presence of God and in the presence of so many people focused on praying for him. It was so wonderful and so much fun to spend that time with him.

Please be praying for Micah for his ongoing needs and also for the upcoming surgery.

PRAY THAT GOD WILL HEAL MICAH’S SEIZURES – ONCE & FOR ALL.

PRAY THAT HIS SUCTION WILL STRENGTHEN & INCREASE AND THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE FULL FEEDINGS IN SHORTER PERIODS OF TIME.

PRAY THAT HE WILL CONTINUE TO GAIN WEIGHT UNTIL HE IS AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT.

PRAY FOR PROTECTION OVER MICAH AGAINST ANY INFECTIONS OR ILLNESSES.

PRAY FOR A COMPLETE HEALING OF MICAH’S BLINDNESS.

PRAY FOR WISDOM, DISCERNMENT & PEACE OVER THE DECISION OF MICAH’S SURGERY.

PRAY FOR HEALING OF MICAH’S BODY AND MUSCLES. PRAY THAT GOD WOULD TAKE AWAY ALL SPASTICITY IN ANY & ALL OF HIS MUSCLES & THAT GOD WOULD GIVE MICAH FULL USE OF ALL OF HIS BODY PARTS.

PRAY FOR A COMPLETE HEALING & RESTORATION OF HIS BRAIN.

PRAY FOR STEPHANIE & CHRIS THAT THEY WOULD HAVE ALL THEY NEED PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, SPIRITUALLY & FINANCIALLY.

PRAY THAT THEIR RELATIONSHIP WOULD CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN & GROW & THAT THEY CONTINUE TO BOND AS A FAMILY.
